Game Summary :
Last Thursday night the Byrne's Pub Goat Rodeo Cowboy's finally had their whole team in tact and uninjured (unfortunately that only lasted for a few innings) and they were ready to turn their losing record around. And after the first few innings of Game 6 it looked as though the tide had turned in their favor.

As is their MO this year, the BPGRC's were managing to stay in the game by pure defensive grit alone and by the bottom of the 4th inning VCDA was shaking in their cleats. VCDA couldn’t figure out how to take down the impenetrable wall that was the BPGRC’s defense, so they decided to play dirty. With one strong whack of the bat, and a whack of Bruiser's shin, the VCDA took out the heart and soul of our infield. It seems, just when we thought the origin of Bruiser’s nickname had faded into the horizon she unfortunately got nailed by another line drive, securing the nickname for another few years.

With the mighty second basewoman injured, the BPGRC’s buckled down and tried to prove that they could play even with a (wo)man down. The BPGRC’s held the game to a tie in the bottom of the seventh, and a Texas Shootout began. Unfortunately the pressure of just one pitch per batter was too much for the team as they ultimately fell 4-3 in game one.

Taking a que from the crazy knife wielding ju-jitsu fighters practicing their maneuvers behind the BPGRC dugout, the team put on their warrior faces and tried to battled back in Game 7. Unfortunately even with the loud, yet injured, cheering section rooting them on, the BPGRC’s could not pull out a win in Game 7.

Unfortunately, in a recreational sport where the final score should reflect that of a football game, the BPGRC’s still seem to be playing golf. We can only hope that one of these weeks the team will figure out how to get some offense going...

Since the BPGRC’s continue to demonstrate amazing defensive prowess, the Byrne's Pub coaching staff found it appropriate to award one MVP this week for the player with the best defensive outing. And so, the Byrne’s Pub Coaching staff would like to congratulate McDizzy for his amazing defensive plays. He continually sacrificed his body and dove all over the outfield to keep these games within reach. Nice hustle McDizzy!
