As it has been said by many teams before.... this is bound to be a rebuilding year. Slated with the challenge of replacing 5 veteran players (including the coach!) the 2008 season for the BPGRCs started out a bit questionable. But luckily without much convincing, interim Coach Cubby Bear was able to call on last years Subs to sign on for a full time commitment and, by a pure luck, was able to sign 3 hot rookies from the minor leagues.

With such great promise displayed by the new talent it was obvious that after a few practices this team could bring back the glory of yesteryear. Unfortunately, the BPGRC's only held one practice this season.. and it had a poor turn out. Consequently this first Game played out more like a practice than a real match up. Most of the team definitely appeared to be dusting off the cobwebs throughout the first few innings, and when they finally came together late in the game, it was just too little too late. Luckily the BPGRC's know where their priorities stand, beer and pizza, so they were not too phased by this first loss (from a newcomer team they should've beat!).

As this season brings many new beginnings to the BPGRCs, true fans should not worry. Although typically more of a crash and burn team later in the season, the BPGRC's look to be more like a marathon runner this year... slow and steady will win this race and take them straight on to the championship game!
